A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT...

Welcome to the New Brunswick Draft Horse Association website. After a long winter, it is nice to see the better weather arrive. The 2009 show season is just around the corner.

At the annual meeting held on April 4, 2009, a lengthy discussion took place regarding concerns about the age of children in the show ring. A motion was put forward and unanimously passed, that sets the minimum age at seven (7) years of age at the date of the show. This includes halter and driving classes, as well as being on the wagon as a passenger. Any award presentations made by children under seven will be done from outside the ring.

I realize that this rule change will affect some children that have shown at the Junior Show in Sussex and the Frex in the past, but it was felt that safety was the main priority. This rule change affects only the shows put on by the New Brunswick Draft Horse Association, the other fairs and exhibitions will continue to follow their own rules regarding age.
